Description
A vintage Royal Air Force sweetheart wings brooch dating to the Second World War period.
This attractive example features the classic RAF wing design with central shield and red enamel detail beneath the King’s Crown.
The brooch retains good feather detail across the wings and presents very well overall.
The reverse is stamped with the maker’s mark W.G.Ld , a known manufacturer of wartime sweetheart jewellery.
The brooch has been acid tested and tests as silver . There are no additional assay hallmarks present which is not uncommon for small wartime sweetheart pieces.
The pin and clasp are the traditional C-catch type , consistent with mid-20th century manufacture.
